Democratic Dialogue in Palestine: Acculturation towards Tolerance Project In cooperation with the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF), in January 2010 RCHRS implemented the project "Democratic Dialogue in Palestine: Acculturation towards Tolerance". This project promotes the values of democracy, tolerance and human rights. It targets a group of Palestinian youth, who have cultural, ideological, political, social or regional backgrounds in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. This project includes diverse activities that seek to strengthen the principles of dialogues and acceptance of others in the same society. The absence of democratic principles creates tensions and intolerant practices in the society. Similarly, this project aims to introduce participants to the mechanisms of decision making in the Palestinian Authority and its different institutions. RCHRS has conducted five workshops on leadership and communication skills (3 in the West Bank and 2 in the Gaza Strip). These introductory sessions introduced the participants to the concept of communication. Moreover, these sessions stressed on the importance of dialogue in building mutual respect between the parties, subsequently, it creates a democratic atmosphere that accepts all perspectives in the one society. |
