The Positions of Palestinian Parties and Movements on the Issue of Religion

On April 20, 2011, the Ramallah Center for Human Rights Studies (RCHRS)  organized a panel discussion under the title "The Positions of Palestinian Parties and Movements on the Issue of Religion" which was attended by representatives of Palestinian factions present in the Palestine Liberation Organization in addition to other interested attendees.

The meeting discussed how Palestinian movements, which declare themselves in their literature to be secular movements, deal with religion and religious terminology. This topic was discussed with specific regard for recent developments in both the international and local arena which caused many movements to adopt a policy of handling religion in a manner that differs from what is found in their literature.

This activity was carried out by RCHRS in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation of Germany.
